Job Description
McAlvain Construction is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Plasterer Apprentice. This is a unique opportunity to learn the valuable trade of plastering from experienced professionals. As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of plaster installation, repair, and finishing, contributing to high-quality construction projects across the Boise area. This apprenticeship is designed to provide comprehensive training, leading to a skilled career in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior plasterers in preparing surfaces for plaster application, including cleaning, sealing, and applying lath.
- Learn to mix plaster, stucco, and other related materials to the correct consistency.
- Practice applying coats of plaster to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces using various tools such as trowels, brushes, and floats.
- Help with patching holes and cracks, and repairing damaged plasterwork.
- Measure and cut lath, plasterboard, or other materials to size.
- Follow blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate installation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Attend all required apprenticeship training and classes.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and improve skills.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong desire to learn the plastering trade.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites in the Boise area.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all site regulations.
