Job Description
We are seeking experienced and highly skilled Pipefitters to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth, England. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to critical marine and industrial projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality. You will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems in various environments, including naval vessels and land-based facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes using various tools and techniques.
- Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines for leaks or faults.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with engineers, other tradespersons, and project managers to ensure project completion on schedule and within budget.
- Perform routine maintenance on piping systems and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
- Extensive experience in pipe fabrication, welding (e.g., TIG, MIG, MMA), and fitting.
- Strong understanding of various piping materials and their applications (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, copper nickel).
- Ability to perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Pipefitting or Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a marine, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial environment.
- Forklift license or other relevant plant operator certifications.
- Confined space entry certification.
- Current UK security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
