Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Physicist to join our dynamic research team at the University of Alberta. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in areas such as quantum materials, theoretical physics, astrophysics, or medical physics. The successful candidate will engage in experimental or theoretical investigations, contribute to scientific publications, and collaborate with a diverse group of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students. Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct complex experiments or develop theoretical models in the chosen field of physics.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data or simulation results, drawing robust conclusions.
• Prepare and present research findings at national and international conferences.
• Publish research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary research teams and external partners.
• Mentor junior researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to safety protocols (if applicable to experimental role).

Required Skills

• PhD in Physics or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in a specific area of physics research (e.g., condensed matter physics, quantum optics, particle physics, biophysics).
• Proficiency in data analysis software and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of scientific publications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postdoctoral research experience.
• Experience with advanced experimental techniques or computational methods relevant to the research area.
