Job Description
Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatrician to join our dedicated team in Edmonton. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced medical professional looking to contribute to a leading healthcare system in Canada. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to children from infancy through adolescence, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventive services, within an acute care and outpatient clinic setting. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary and secondary medical care to pediatric patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer immunizations and provide anticipatory guidance on child development, nutrition, and safety.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient medical records in accordance with AHS standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency pediatric care as required.
- Engage in continuous professional development and stay updated with the latest advancements in pediatric medicine.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold AHS's commitment to patient safety and excellence.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent.
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Pediatrics, or eligibility for certification.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in general pediatrics.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical medical practice.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional sub-specialty training or certifications in areas such as Neonatology, Pediatric Cardiology, or Developmental Pediatrics.
- Experience in a teaching hospital or academic setting.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Participation in medical research or publications.
