Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Pattern Cutter to join our esteemed fashion house. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of garment construction, excellent precision, and a keen eye for detail. You will be responsible for translating design sketches and concepts into accurate patterns, ensuring the perfect fit and drape for our high-end garments. This role is crucial to our production process, requiring both technical expertise and creative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop accurate and precise patterns from design sketches, technical drawings, and specifications for various garment types (dresses, gowns, separates, etc.).
• Interpret design concepts to create first patterns, working closely with designers to ensure design intent is met.
• Conduct fittings with models and adjust patterns to achieve optimal fit, drape, and silhouette.
• Create graded patterns for different sizes, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the size range.
• Maintain detailed records of pattern changes, measurements, and specifications.
• Collaborate with sample makers, production teams, and designers throughout the development process.
• Ensure patterns are production-ready, incorporating appropriate seam allowances, notches, and construction details.
• Research and apply new pattern-making techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and quality.
• Manage and organize pattern archives, both physical and digital.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in manual pattern cutting techniques (flat pattern drafting, draping).
• Strong understanding of garment construction and tailoring principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to interpret design sketches and translate them into patterns.
• Knowledge of different fabric types and their behavior.
• Experience with grading patterns for various sizes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Problem-solving abilities and adaptability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD pattern making software (e.g., Lectra, Gerber, OptiTex) is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pattern Cutter in a high-end fashion or bespoke atelier.
• Portfolio demonstrating a range of pattern cutting expertise.
• Experience working with luxury fabrics and complex designs.
