Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Worker to join our team in Denver. This role is integral to providing spiritual support, guidance, and comfort to individuals and families receiving services from Catholic Charities. The Pastoral Worker will offer a ministry of presence, advocacy, and prayer, fostering an environment of hope and healing. This position requires a deep commitment to our mission and values, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual care, counseling, and emotional support to clients and their families.
- Facilitate spiritual group activities, prayer services, and faith-based discussions.
- Conduct pastoral visits to clients in shelters, housing programs, and other facilities.
- Collaborate with case managers and social workers to integrate spiritual support into holistic care plans.
- Offer compassionate presence and active listening, responding to individual spiritual needs.
- Connect clients with appropriate religious or community resources as needed.
- Maintain confidential records of interactions and support provided.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with planning and execution of special events related to spiritual life and community engagement.
- Uphold the mission, values, and ethical guidelines of Catholic Charities of Denver.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Pastoral Care, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pastoral care, ministry, or social service roles.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and culturally sensitive spiritual support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to the values and mission of Catholic Charities.
- Ability to obtain necessary religious endorsements or certifications if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Counseling, or a related field.
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units completed.
- Experience working within a non-profit or social service organization.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of community resources in the Denver area.
