Job Description

UAB Facilities is seeking a dedicated and thorough Part-Time Evening Office Custodian / Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of our campus administrative buildings. This vital role ensures a hygienic and pleasant environment for our faculty, staff, and visitors during evening hours. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of cleaning duties, contributing directly to the comfort and safety of our university community. We are looking for an individual who is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal in assigned office areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
• Respond to special cleaning requests and emergencies as needed.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting needs to supervisor.
• Operate various cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and university policies.
• Ensure all doors and windows are secured upon completion of duties.

Required Skills

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high cleanliness standards.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in a custodial or cleaning role, preferably in an institutional or office setting.
