Job Description
Edward-Elmhurst Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paramedic to join our Emergency Medical Services team in Naperville, Illinois. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide immediate pre-hospital medical care.
- Assess patient conditions, interpret vital signs, and diagnose medical emergencies.
- Administer medications, perform advanced life support procedures, and operate medical equipment (e.g., defibrillators, ventilators).
- Stabilize patients for transport and ensure safe transit to appropriate medical facilities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient care reports and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and other emergency personnel.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Ensure readiness of emergency vehicles and equipment, performing daily checks and maintenance.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certifications and enhance skills.
Required Skills
- Valid Paramedic certification/license in Illinois (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Proven experience in an emergency medical services setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure and make quick, sound decisions.
- Physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume urban or suburban EMS system.
- Additional certifications such as Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Critical Care Paramedic (CCP).
- Familiarity with electronic patient care reporting systems.
