Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paramedic to join our emergency medical services team in San Jose, CA. This is a unique opportunity for qualified international candidates, as Kaiser Permanente is proud to offer visa sponsorship for eligible individuals. The successful candidate will provide advanced emergency medical care, stabilization, and transport for patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and clinical judgment, responding to diverse medical and trauma emergencies. This role is critical to our commitment to delivering timely and life-saving care to our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls, assessing patient conditions rapidly and accurately.
• Administer advanced life support (ALS) including medication administration, airway management, cardiac monitoring, and IV therapy.
• Operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently, often under stressful conditions.
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately, maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and other emergency personnel.
• Ensure equipment readiness, proper functioning, and sanitation of ambulance and medical supplies.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures.
• Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

• Current Paramedic license/certification from a recognized state or national body.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Proven experience in pre-hospital emergency medical care.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field.
• Prior experience working in a high-volume urban EMS system.
• Trauma Life Support (TLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification.
• Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin) is a plus.
