Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal Intern to join our team in Sherbrooke, Quebec. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic legal environment, supporting our legal professionals across various practice areas. The successful candidate will work closely with lawyers and paralegals, contributing to real cases and legal projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist legal professionals with legal research, document preparation, and case management.
  • Organize and maintain legal files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Draft routine correspondence, memos, and legal documents under supervision.
  • Prepare summaries of legal documents and factual information.
  • Assist in preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings.
  • Manage and track deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and external parties as directed.
  • Perform administrative duties to support the legal team.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a recognized Paralegal program or Law Clerk program.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office setting, preferably legal.
  • Familiarity with Quebec legal procedures and terminology.
  • Demonstrated interest in specific areas of law.
