Job Description

We are seeking bright and enthusiastic individuals for a Paid Data Science Internship within our Technology & Innovation practice in Manchester. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a leading professional services firm, working alongside experienced data scientists and consultants on real-world client projects. You will contribute to developing data-driven solutions, applying machine learning techniques, and translating complex data into actionable insights for our clients. This role is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the full lifecycle of data science projects in a fast-paced, challenging, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing from various sources.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
• Develop and implement machine learning models under supervision.
• Contribute to the design and development of data-driven solutions and tools.
• Help prepare visualizations and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data science problems.
• Stay updated with the latest data science techniques and technologies.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and firm-wide events.

Required Skills

• Strong foundational knowledge in statistics and mathematics.
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
• Experience with SQL for database querying.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts (e.g., supervised, unsupervised learning).
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, ggplot2, Tableau, Power BI).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
• Experience with web frameworks for deploying models.
• Prior internship or project experience in a data science role.
