Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Operations Research Analyst to join our dynamic consulting team in Glasgow. This role is crucial for applying advanced analytical methods to help our clients make better decisions, improve efficiency, and solve complex business problems. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mathematical models (e.g., optimization, simulation, forecasting) to analyze complex operational challenges.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and integrate analytical solutions into operational processes.
  • Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and evaluate the effectiveness of proposed solutions.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations to clients and senior management.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in operations research and data science.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of the firm's analytical capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in applying operations research methodologies to real-world business problems.
  • Proficiency in optimization software (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi, Xpress) and statistical modeling tools (e.g., R, Python with libraries like SciPy, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn).
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for data processing and model deployment.
  • Familiarity with discrete-event simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic).
  • Experience in a consulting environment or across multiple industries (e.g., supply chain, logistics, finance, healthcare).
  • Project management experience and ability to lead analytical initiatives.
  • Proficiency in SQL for database querying.
