Job Description
Are you passionate about plants and eager to learn the ropes of horticulture? Carmel Nursery and Landscaping is seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals for an Entry-Level Nursery & Greenhouse Farm Worker position. No prior experience is required – we are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to a thriving green environment. This is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in the care, cultivation, and preparation of our diverse plant inventory. You will work closely with experienced nursery professionals, gaining valuable skills in plant propagation, cultivation techniques, pest management, and inventory handling. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planting, potting, and transplanting of various plants, trees, and shrubs.
- Perform general plant care duties, including watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
- Monitor plants for signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies and report findings to supervisors.
- Help maintain a clean and organized nursery and greenhouse environment.
- Prepare plants for sale or delivery, including labeling and packaging.
- Operate basic nursery equipment under supervision (e.g., hand tools, wheelbarrows).
- Assist with loading and unloading plant materials.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Support inventory management through accurate counting and record-keeping.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation to and from the nursery location.
- Commitment to learning new skills and horticultural practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- A genuine interest in plants, gardening, or horticulture.
- Previous experience in a physical labor role or outdoor work is a plus, but not required.
