Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our dynamic Radiology team at Oregon Health & Science University. This is an exceptional opportunity for qualified professionals, including international candidates, as visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants. The successful candidate will perform a variety of nuclear medicine procedures, ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient care in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. You will operate sophisticated equipment, administer radiopharmaceuticals, and contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment focused on innovation and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including SPECT, PET, and general nuclear medicine studies.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, adhering to strict dosage and regulatory guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment, ensuring proper calibration and quality control checks.
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging studies, providing clear instructions and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Process and analyze imaging data, preparing images and reports for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety protocols, including ALARA principles, and maintain appropriate licensing.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine.

Required Skills

  • Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the NMTCB or ARRT(N).
  • State licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Oregon, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine principles, procedures, and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Proficiency in operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated commitment to radiation safety and quality assurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced imaging techniques (e.g., PET/CT, SPECT/CT).
  • Experience in an academic medical center setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
