Job Description
MUSC Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our dynamic team in Charleston, South Carolina. The successful applicant will perform a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, utilizing advanced imaging equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. This role requires precision, strong patient care skills, and adherence to safety protocols, ensuring the highest standards of imaging quality and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under the direction of a qualified physician.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, following established protocols.
- Operate and maintain SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
- Monitor patients during procedures, recognizing and responding to any adverse reactions.
- Prepare, calibrate, and assay radiopharmaceuticals for patient administration.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of all procedures.
- Adhere to strict radiation safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality control and assurance programs for nuclear medicine equipment and procedures.
- Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
Required Skills
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by NMTCB or ARRT (N).
- Active state licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in South Carolina, or eligibility to obtain.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Proficiency in performing a variety of nuclear medicine imaging procedures.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and ALARA practices.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship, if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
- Experience with both SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging modalities.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Prior experience in an academic medical center or large hospital setting.
