Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Plymouth, UK. As a Network Engineer at BT Group, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our complex network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN).
- Perform network monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution to ensure high availability and performance.
- Implement and maintain network security policies and procedures.
- Manage and maintain documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new systems and technologies.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical incident response and support.
- Conduct regular network performance tuning, capacity planning, and upgrades.
- Evaluate new network technologies and make recommendations for improvements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer (minimum 4 years).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS).
- Extensive experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar enterprise-level networking hardware.
- Proficiency in network security principles and firewall management (e.g., Palo Alto, FortiGate, Checkpoint).
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Experience with VoIP and unified communications systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
