Job Description
Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Natural Resources Manager to join our team in Burlington, Vermont. This pivotal role involves leading and managing complex environmental projects, focusing on natural resource assessments, permitting, and compliance for a variety of clients including government agencies, private developers, and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical leadership, project management, client relations, and contributing to business development efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a diverse portfolio of natural resource projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct and supervise natural resource assessments, including wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, and botanical inventories.
- Prepare and review environmental permits and regulatory compliance documents (e.g., NEPA, CWA Section 404/401, ESA, state-specific regulations).
- Serve as primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships, and effectively communicating project progress and outcomes.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing, scope of work development, and client outreach.
- Ensure all project activities adhere to company safety standards and quality assurance protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various service lines to deliver integrated solutions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in natural resources management or environmental consulting.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience with federal and state environmental regulations and permitting processes (e.g., NEPA, CWA, ESA).
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and client interaction.
- Proficiency in wetland delineation techniques and experience with relevant software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor professional staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific field.
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification.
- Experience with Vermont-specific environmental regulations (e.g., Act 250, Vermont Wetland Rules).
- Experience in business development and successful proposal writing.
