Job Description

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in museum curation and collections management within a dynamic living history setting. The Museum Curator Intern will assist with various aspects of collections care, research, exhibition development, and public programming, contributing to the preservation and interpretation of our rich historical artifacts. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about history, museum studies, and cultural preservation, seeking practical experience in a professional museum environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the cataloging, inventory, and documentation of museum artifacts and archival materials.
• Support collections care activities including environmental monitoring, integrated pest management, and preventive conservation.
• Conduct research for upcoming exhibitions, educational programs, and interpretative materials.
• Aid in the development and installation of exhibits, ensuring proper object handling and display techniques.
• Contribute to the creation of digital content and online resources related to the museum's collections.
• Provide support for public programs and special events, including guided tours and workshops.
• Learn and adhere to professional museum standards and best practices in all curatorial tasks.

Required Skills

• Familiarity with collections management software (e.g., PastPerfect, Re:discovery).
• Basic knowledge of archival standards and conservation principles.
