Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mobile Developer specializing in Android to join our dynamic team in Colorado Springs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our cutting-edge mobile applications, enhancing the digital experience for our members. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Android applications, working closely with product owners, UI/UX designers, and backend engineers. This position includes visa sponsorship for qualified candidates looking to relocate and build a long-term career with USAA.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure Android applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
• Stay up-to-date with new mobile technologies, trends, and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a positive team environment.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
• Deep understanding of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
• Strong knowledge of UI/UX principles and patterns.
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Demonstrable portfolio of mobile applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with MVVM or MVI architectural patterns.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Financial services industry experience.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
