Job Description
Henry Ford Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Midwife to join our Women’s Health team in Detroit, MI. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional looking to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a vibrant urban setting. The successful candidate will deliver a full scope of midwifery services, focusing on holistic women’s health throughout the lifespan, including prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecological care. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to women and newborns.
- Perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and manage common obstetric and gynecological conditions.
- Offer education and counseling on reproductive health, family planning, childbirth, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education.
- Provide compassionate support and advocacy for patients, promoting informed decision-making.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide immediate interventions as necessary.
Required Skills
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM) certification
- Current RN and APN licensure in Michigan (or eligibility to obtain)
- Master's degree in Nursing or Midwifery from an accredited program
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience as a practicing Midwife
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a large academic medical center or high-volume birth center
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish or Arabic)
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system
- Active participation in professional midwifery organizations
