Job Description

The Microsoft Explore program is a unique 12-week summer internship designed for first and second-year university students (or equivalent) who are interested in exploring software engineering and program management roles. This immersive program provides an unparalleled opportunity to work on real-world projects, learn from industry experts, and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, collaborative hybrid environment. Interns will have the chance to rotate between different technical disciplines, allowing for a broad understanding of product development at Microsoft. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and program managers to design, develop, and test software solutions.
  • Contribute to various stages of the product development lifecycle, from ideation and planning to coding and deployment.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, code reviews, and project discussions, offering insights and feedback.
  • Document technical specifications, project progress, and best practices clearly and concisely.
  • Present findings, project outcomes, and learnings to peers, mentors, and senior leaders.
  • Actively seek feedback and mentorship to enhance both technical proficiency and professional skills.
  • Engage in workshops, seminars, and learning opportunities designed to broaden understanding of Microsoft technologies, products, and corporate culture.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong foundational understanding of computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., C++, Java, Python, C#).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with object-oriented programming concepts and practices.
  • Familiarity with software development tools and methodologies, such as version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development.
