Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Microbiologist to join our dynamic team in Garland, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing microbiological analyses on various samples, including raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, to ensure product safety and quality. This role involves adherence to strict regulatory guidelines, method development, and troubleshooting, contributing directly to the quality assurance and control processes within our manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute routine microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods following established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform environmental monitoring of manufacturing facilities, including air, water, and surface sampling.
  • Isolate, identify, and enumerate microorganisms using classical and rapid microbiological methods.
  • Conduct microbial limit testing, sterility testing, and antimicrobial effectiveness testing.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and documentation.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of all laboratory activities and findings.
  • Participate in method validation, development, and transfer activities.
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and conduct root cause analyses.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA regulations, and ISO standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the microbiology laboratory.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a microbiology laboratory within the pharmaceutical, medical device, or food industry.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques and microbial culturing.
  • Experience with microbial identification techniques (e.g., Gram staining, biochemical tests).
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring programs.
  • Strong understanding of GLP, GMP, and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
  • Experience with rapid microbiological methods (e.g., PCR, ATP bioluminescence).
  • Knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Experience in method development and validation.
  • Prior experience with audit participation (internal or external).
