Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Meteorologist to join our award-winning weather team at WISN 12. This unique opportunity is for a dedicated weather professional who can effectively interpret complex meteorological data and communicate critical weather information to a diverse audience across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering accurate forecasts, contributing to our daily news broadcasts, and engaging with the community. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate, engaging, and easy-to-understand weather forecasts for multiple platforms (broadcast, digital, social media).
• Interpret complex meteorological data from various sources including radar, satellite, and numerical models.
• Provide live, real-time severe weather coverage and issue critical alerts, demonstrating strong journalistic instincts under pressure.
• Develop compelling weather graphics and utilize advanced presentation tools to enhance viewer understanding.
• Engage with the community through public appearances, social media interactions, and educational outreach initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with news producers, reporters, and anchors to seamlessly integrate weather information into news programs.
• Maintain a deep understanding of local weather patterns and climate trends specific to the Milwaukee viewing area.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a broadcast meteorologist or a professional weather forecaster.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex weather information clearly, concisely, and engagingly.
• Proficiency with industry-standard weather graphics systems (e.g., WSI, Baron).
• Strong on-air presentation skills and ability to perform live under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by weather demands.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Meteorology or a related field.
• Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) or American Meteorological Society (AMS) Seal of Approval.
• Proven experience with community engagement and leveraging social media for weather content.
• Fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
• Prior experience in a major market or extensive experience covering significant severe weather events.
