Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Metal Fabricator to join our dedicated team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine material requirements and task specifications.
- Cut, shape, and form metal components using a variety of tools and machinery, including shears, brakes, presses, and welding equipment.
- Assemble and fit metal parts and products according to specifications, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Perform various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) on different types of metals.
- Inspect work for defects and compliance with quality standards, making adjustments as necessary.
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and team members to ensure project milestones are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues as they arise.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Expertise in various metal fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, forming, welding).
- Strong knowledge of different welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick).
- Ability to work with a variety of metals, including steel and aluminum.
- Familiarity with fabrication machinery and hand tools.
- Attention to detail and strong commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adherence to strict safety guidelines and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman certification as a Metal Fabricator or Welder.
- Experience in the shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software for fabrication.
- Certification in multiple welding codes (e.g., CWB, AWS).
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
