Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Metal Fabricator to join our dedicated team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine material requirements and task specifications.
  • Cut, shape, and form metal components using a variety of tools and machinery, including shears, brakes, presses, and welding equipment.
  • Assemble and fit metal parts and products according to specifications, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Perform various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) on different types of metals.
  • Inspect work for defects and compliance with quality standards, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople and team members to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues as they arise.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Expertise in various metal fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, forming, welding).
  • Strong knowledge of different welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Ability to work with a variety of metals, including steel and aluminum.
  • Familiarity with fabrication machinery and hand tools.
  • Attention to detail and strong commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adherence to strict safety guidelines and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman certification as a Metal Fabricator or Welder.
  • Experience in the shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software for fabrication.
  • Certification in multiple welding codes (e.g., CWB, AWS).
  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
