Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Nurse to join our dedicated team in Henderson, NV. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide specialized care to patients experiencing mental health challenges within a supportive hospital environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals with psychiatric disorders. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams and risk assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for efficacy and adverse reactions.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient observations, interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, adhering to all hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nevada (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Mental Health Nurse or Psychiatric Nurse
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) with relevant experience accepted
- Strong understanding of mental health disorders, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic communication techniques
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion in patient interactions
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMH-BC)
- Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural sensitivities
- Previous experience in an acute care psychiatric setting
- Familiarity with local mental health resources and community support services
