Job Description

We are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Biller to join our esteemed finance team at our San Francisco medical center. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely claims to various insurance providers, both electronically and manually.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding claims within established billing cycles, thoroughly investigating and resolving all denials and rejections.
  • Initiate and manage the appeal process for denied claims, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to guidelines.
  • Process patient payments, manage accounts receivable, and reconcile billing discrepancies.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to service delivery.
  • Serve as a primary contact for patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to address and resolve all billing inquiries.
  • Uphold the highest standards of patient information confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Continuously monitor and adapt to changes in medical billing and coding guidelines, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret billing reports to identify trends, pinpoint areas for improvement, and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Support month-end closing procedures relevant to billing operations and financial reporting.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in medical billing or a closely related healthcare administrative role.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding practices.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, capable of professional interaction with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic, high-volume healthcare environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of meeting deadlines consistently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CEMC, CCS).
  • Familiarity with Kaiser Permanente's specific billing systems or experience within a large, integrated healthcare system.
