Job Description

As a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service, you will play a crucial role in connecting our communities by delivering mail and packages to residential and business customers. This physically demanding and rewarding position requires precision, dedication, and excellent customer service skills. You will be responsible for sorting, loading, and delivering mail on foot and by vehicle, ensuring accurate and timely service in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort and load mail and packages in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
• Deliver mail along a prescribed route, either on foot or by vehicle, in all weather conditions.
• Collect outgoing mail, cash for C.O.D.s, and other postal products.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to the public.
• Account for all mail and packages, including accountable mail items.
• Operate a postal vehicle safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections.
• Report any unusual circumstances or hazards along the route.

Required Skills

• Valid state driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry mail sacks weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good organizational and observational skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and sort mail accurately.
• Physical stamina to walk long distances and endure varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in a delivery, transportation, or customer service role.
• Knowledge of Sugar Land geographical area.
