Job Description
We are seeking highly qualified and experienced legal professionals to serve as Magistrates within the Liverpool Magistrates’ Court. This pivotal role involves presiding over a diverse range of criminal and civil cases, making impartial judgments, and contributing directly to the administration of justice. As a Magistrate, you will play a crucial part in upholding the rule of law, protecting public interest, and ensuring fair and equitable outcomes for all parties involved. Key Responsibilities
- Preside over Magistrates' Court proceedings, including summary criminal trials, youth court cases, and civil applications.
- Hear evidence, interpret legal arguments, and apply relevant law and procedure to reach fair and reasoned decisions.
- Deliver clear and concise judgments, explaining legal reasoning and outcomes to all parties.
- Determine appropriate sentences, orders, or remedies based on evidence, legal guidelines, and sentencing principles.

- Uphold the independence and integrity of the judiciary at all times, maintaining impartiality and professionalism.

Required Skills
- Extensive experience in legal practice or related judicial roles.
- Thorough understanding of criminal law, civil law, and judicial procedure in England and Wales.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Deputy District Judge, Recorder, or similar judicial appointment.
