Job Description
Lockheed Martin is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Machinist Apprentice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This comprehensive apprenticeship program is designed to provide hands-on training and theoretical knowledge necessary to become a skilled machinist. You will work closely with experienced professionals, learning to operate and maintain various machine tools, interpret blueprints, and produce precision components essential for our advanced aerospace and defense systems. Key Responsibilities
- Learn to set up, operate, and maintain conventional and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) under supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for various machining jobs.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Document daily work, materials used, and progress on assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with experienced machinists and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve machining challenges.
- Participate in all required classroom instruction and practical training modules.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Basic mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to read and understand technical instructions and safety manuals.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.

- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a manufacturing setting.
