Job Description
UPS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Manager to join our dynamic team in Kanata, Ottawa. This pivotal role involves overseeing and optimizing the entire logistics operation, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of supply chain principles, and a proven track record in managing complex logistics networks. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize daily logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics professionals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on logistics performance to senior management.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., sales, customer service, operations) to ensure seamless execution of logistics activities.
- Oversee the selection and management of third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and freight forwarders.
- Identify and implement new technologies and process improvements to streamline logistics operations.
- Manage budgets and financial performance for logistics functions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain necessary work permits and visas for Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Certification in Logistics (e.g., CSCP, CLTD).
- Experience with lean logistics or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Experience managing logistics operations in a cross-border context.
