Job Description
VCA Canada in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Veterinarian to join our thriving practice. This unique opportunity includes visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates passionate about animal welfare and dedicated to delivering exceptional veterinary care. You will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating various animal conditions, performing surgeries, and educating pet owners on preventative care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to a diverse range of animal patients.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations, diagnose illnesses, and develop effective treatment plans.
- Perform surgical procedures, including routine spays/neuters and more complex operations.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, including blood work, radiographs, and ultrasounds.
- Administer vaccinations and advise pet owners on preventative health programs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Participate in on-call rotations or emergency services as required.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Veterinary Medical Association (NLVMA).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in general surgery and dentistry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to animal care.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of post-licensure experience in a small animal practice.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic imaging (ultrasound).
- Special interest in a specific area of veterinary medicine (e.g., dermatology, internal medicine).
- Experience working with an electronic medical records (EMR) system.
