Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Librarian to join our team, offering a unique opportunity for individuals requiring visa sponsorship. This role involves managing library resources, assisting patrons with research and information retrieval, developing engaging community programs, and contributing to the overall mission of the library. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a strong service orientation, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all community members. This is an on-site position requiring active participation within our library branches in Reno.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive reference and research assistance to patrons of all ages
- Curate, catalog, and maintain library collections, including print, digital, and multimedia resources
- Develop and implement engaging educational programs and workshops for various age groups
- Manage interlibrary loan requests and support circulation services
- Assist with the selection and acquisition of new library materials
- Stay updated on current library trends, technologies, and best practices
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance library outreach and services
- Ensure compliance with library policies and procedures
Required Skills
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution
- Proficiency in library management systems and database searching
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Familiarity with digital literacy tools and resources
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship (employer will support the process)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a public library setting
- Experience with program development and event coordination
- Knowledge of emerging library technologies and trends
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
- Experience with cataloging standards (e.g., RDA, MARC21)
