Job Description

Aspen Pharmacare is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Lab Assistant Intern. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmaceutical laboratory environment in Durban. You will gain valuable skills and knowledge, supporting our experienced scientists and technicians in various laboratory operations. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to kick-start their careers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior lab personnel with daily laboratory tasks and experiments.
• Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and glassware, ensuring cleanliness and proper functionality.
• Manage and organize laboratory samples, reagents, and supplies.
• Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and quality control standards.
• Support data entry and basic analysis as required.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Required Skills

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior exposure to a laboratory environment (academic or professional).
• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Familiarity with basic analytical instruments.
