Job Description
MLT Aikins LLP is seeking a highly motivated and academically accomplished Judicial Law Clerk to join our Saskatoon office. This unique opportunity is designed for recent law graduates or junior lawyers eager to gain unparalleled insight into the judicial process and refine their legal research and writing skills. The successful candidate will work closely with senior lawyers, assisting with complex legal matters and preparing comprehensive legal analyses, briefs, and memoranda related to ongoing litigation and advisory work. This role provides an exceptional foundation for a career in litigation or legal scholarship.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth legal research on complex points of law across various practice areas.
- Draft legal memoranda, factums, and opinions for court submissions and internal use.
- Assist with the preparation for court proceedings, including trial and appellate work.
- Review and analyze legal documents, evidence, and statutes.
- Summarize case law, legislative changes, and academic articles.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers on strategy development for high-stakes cases.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all tasks.
- Participate in internal training and professional development initiatives.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited institution.
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan or eligibility to be called to the bar.
- Exceptional legal research skills, including proficiency with legal databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Superior legal writing and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
