Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify, research, and pitch news stories and feature ideas relevant to the Nottinghamshire community.
- Conduct interviews with sources, public officials, and community members, maintaining strong ethical standards.
- Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles, features, and reports for digital and print platforms, adhering to house style and deadlines.
- Verify facts, information, and sources to ensure accuracy and journalistic integrity.
- Create multimedia content, including photos and videos, to enhance storytelling.
- Monitor local events, court proceedings, and public meetings for potential news leads.
- Build and maintain a network of contacts within the community.
- Utilize social media and other digital tools to promote content and engage with readers.
- Adhere to media law and IPSO (Independent Press Standards Organisation) guidelines.
- Collaborate with editors and other team members to refine content and achieve editorial goals.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Journalist, reporter, or similar role (minimum 3 years).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong research, interviewing, and investigative abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrable understanding of journalistic ethics and media law.
- Proficiency in digital content creation, including basic photo and video editing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
- NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) diploma or equivalent qualification.
