Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Janitor / Sanitation Worker to join our team at our food processing plant in Tampa, FL. This critical role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards essential for food safety and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position involves cleaning and sanitizing production areas, equipment, and general facility spaces to meet strict regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of production lines, machinery, and equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
• Clean and sanitize floors, walls, and other surfaces in processing areas, restrooms, break rooms, and offices.
• Handle and dispose of waste materials, including food waste and general refuse, in designated receptacles.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment suchasescrubbers, power washers, and foamers.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Monitor sanitation supplies and communicate inventory needs to supervisors.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure equipment and areas meet sanitation standards.
• Support other operational tasks as needed to maintain a clean and organized facility.

Required Skills

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe application.
• Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in sanitation or janitorial services, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP principles.
