Job Description

ABM Industries is seeking a dedicated and thorough Janitor/Porter to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of our client facilities in Birmingham, AL. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe, pleasant, and well-maintained environment for building occupants and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, contributing to the overall positive experience of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained and facilities are hygienic.
• Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas in a timely manner.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces to maintain a professional appearance.
• Replenish supplies in restrooms, breakrooms, and other common areas as needed.
• Report any maintenance needs or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
• Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition, ensuring proper use and storage.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a secure working environment.
• Respond to special cleaning requests as needed, demonstrating flexibility and customer service.

Required Skills

• Ability to read and understand basic instructions and safety guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including standing, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Reliable transportation to ensure consistent attendance.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment operation.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in a janitorial or custodial role.
• Familiarity with safety procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
