Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced International Publishing Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for expanding our global reach and managing relationships with international partners, authors, and literary agents. The successful candidate will play a key role in acquiring new titles for various markets, managing translation rights, and coordinating publishing schedules across different regions. This position requires a strong understanding of the global publishing landscape, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in rights management or international content acquisition. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and cultivate relationships with international publishers, literary agents, and authors to identify and acquire new titles.
- Negotiate and execute contracts for translation rights, co-editions, and international licensing agreements.
- Develop and implement strategies for expanding our presence in key international markets.
- Oversee the lifecycle of international publications, from acquisition to production and distribution.
- Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to ensure successful international launches.
- Monitor global market trends and competitive landscape to inform acquisition strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on international sales performance and market analysis.
- Represent Penguin Random House at international book fairs and industry events.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Publishing, Literature, International Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in rights management, international sales, or editorial roles within the publishing industry.
- Proven experience in negotiating and managing international publishing contracts.
- Strong understanding of copyright law and international intellectual property rights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and international teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Fluency in one or more additional languages (e.g., Spanish, German, French, Mandarin).
- Experience with publishing specific software and databases.
- Established network of contacts within the international publishing community.
- Experience with digital publishing and evolving content formats.
