Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Intergovernmental Affairs Analyst to join our dynamic Public Policy and Government Affairs team. This role is crucial for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on legislative and regulatory developments at the state, local, and federal levels that impact Nike’s operations, brand, and strategic objectives. The analyst will support the development and execution of Nike’s public policy agenda, engage with key stakeholders, and provide strategic insights to internal teams. This is a hybrid position based in our Portland office, requiring a balance of in-office collaboration and remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments across various levels of government (federal, state, local) with potential impact on Nike's business.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of proposed legislation, regulations, and public policy issues relevant to the consumer goods, manufacturing, and global trade sectors.
- Prepare comprehensive briefings, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, on policy trends and risks.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Nike's public policy strategies and advocacy initiatives.
- Support engagement with government officials, industry associations, NGOs, and other external stakeholders.
- Track and manage legislative calendars, committee hearings, and key policy debates.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, sustainability, supply chain, and communications teams to ensure alignment on policy positions and engagement strategies.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking policy documents, stakeholder interactions, and advocacy progress.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in legislative analysis, public policy, or government relations.
- Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes at state, local, and federal levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Exceptional research and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legislative tracking software and public policy databases.
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Law, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) in a relevant field.
- Experience working within a government agency, legislative body, or large multinational corporation's government affairs department.
- Familiarity with policy issues related to global supply chains, trade, environmental sustainability, and consumer privacy.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
