Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Intergovernmental Affairs Analyst to join our team in Fairbanks, Alaska. This role is critical in supporting our engagement with various governmental entities, indigenous groups, and community stakeholders. The successful candidate will monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyze their potential impact on company operations, and help foster strong, constructive relationships with key intergovernmental partners. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze state, federal, and local legislative, regulatory, and policy developments impacting ConocoPhillips' operations in Alaska.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, summaries, and presentations on key policy issues for internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Support the development and implementation of government relations strategies and advocacy efforts.
- Coordinate meetings and communications with government officials, agencies, indigenous organizations, and community leaders.
- Conduct research on public policy trends, economic data, and socio-political factors relevant to the energy industry.
- Assist in the preparation of testimony, position papers, and other advocacy materials.
- Represent the company at public hearings, community forums, and industry events as required.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including legal, environmental, community relations, and operations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, policy analysis, or a related field, preferably within the energy sector or a resource-intensive industry.
- Strong understanding of Alaskan state and local government structures, legislative processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., MPA, MBA, JD).
- Experience working with or knowledge of indigenous groups and their governance structures in Alaska.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and resource development policies specific to Alaska.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
