Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Tucson, Arizona. This role is crucial in assessing risk, determining policy terms, and ensuring profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate insurance applications, proposals, and renewals to determine risk acceptability.

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers, providing clear and concise communication regarding underwriting decisions and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company underwriting policies.
- Collaborate with sales, claims, and actuarial departments to achieve business objectives.
- Monitor policy performance and recommend adjustments to underwriting guidelines as needed.
- Assist in the training and development of less experienced underwriting staff.
- Handle complex or unusual cases, escalating to senior management when necessary.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to interpret and apply complex policy terms and conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, AINS, AU).
- Experience with various lines of insurance (e.g., property, casualty, life, health).
- Familiarity with risk assessment software and tools.
