Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hydrologist to join our dynamic Water Resources team in Austin, Texas. This position is open to candidates requiring visa sponsorship. The successful candidate will play a critical role in a variety of water resources projects, including hydrological and hydraulic modeling, flood risk assessments, water quality studies, stormwater management, and environmental impact assessments. You will work on challenging and impactful projects for public and private sector clients, contributing to sustainable water management solutions and resilient infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE URBAN).
- Perform watershed analyses, flood inundation mapping, and flood risk assessments.
- Develop stormwater management plans and designs, including green infrastructure solutions.
- Analyze water quality data and contribute to water quality assessments and management plans.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and design documentation.
- Manage project tasks, budgets, and schedules for hydrology-related assignments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and planners.
- Conduct field investigations, data collection, and site reconnaissance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team knowledge sharing and development.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in hydrology or water resources engineering.
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM).
- Strong understanding of GIS applications (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) for hydrologic analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in stormwater management, flood plain analysis, and water quality assessments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with groundwater modeling (e.g., MODFLOW).
- Familiarity with remote sensing techniques and data analysis for water resources.
- Experience working with various government agencies (e.g., FEMA, EPA, state environmental agencies).
