Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housing Program Specialist to join our Community Development team in Jacksonville, Florida. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in supporting and managing various housing assistance programs, ensuring compliance with program guidelines, and providing crucial support to individuals and families seeking housing solutions. This position requires a strong understanding of housing regulations, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for making a positive impact in the community. You will serve as a key point of contact for program participants, collaborate with community partners, and maintain accurate program documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage client intake, eligibility screening, and ongoing case management for housing assistance programs.
  • Process applications, maintain waitlists, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local housing regulations.
  • Provide information and referrals to clients regarding housing resources, social services, and community support.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and unit assessments to ensure compliance with housing quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports on program performance, expenditures, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with landlords, property managers, and community organizations to facilitate housing placements and resolve issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of outreach strategies to promote housing programs to eligible populations.
  • Maintain meticulous records, files, and databases related to all program activities and client interactions.
  • Stay informed about changes in housing policies, funding opportunities, and best practices in housing assistance.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in housing program regulations (e.g., HUD, Section 8, LIHTC).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Certification in Housing Quality Standards (HQS) or equivalent.
  • Experience with case management software or housing information systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole) is a plus.
