Job Description
Oregon Episcopal School is seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of history courses, inspiring students’ curiosity about the past, and fostering critical thinking skills. This role involves developing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and contributing to the vibrant intellectual life of our school community. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive history curriculum for assigned grade levels, aligning with OES's educational philosophy and standards.
 - Deliver dynamic and interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and promote active student participation.
 - Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including projects, essays, presentations, and exams, providing constructive feedback.
 - Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, respect, and academic growth.
 - Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and student support initiatives.
 - Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular activities as required.
 - Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
 - Integrate technology effectively into the learning process to enhance instruction and student engagement.
 
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field
 - Valid state teaching license/certification for secondary education (or eligibility to obtain)
 - Demonstrated expertise in world history, US history, or specific historical periods
 - Proven ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans
 - Excellent classroom management skills
 - Strong interpersonal and communication skills
 - Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in History, Education, or a related field
 - Three or more years of experience teaching history at the secondary level
 - Experience with independent school environments or inquiry-based learning approaches
 - Proficiency in integrating digital tools and resources into history instruction
 - Experience sponsoring student clubs or extracurricular activities (e.g., debate team, history club)
