Job Description
We are seeking experienced and highly skilled HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our dynamic team based in Manchester. As a vital part of our operations, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, adhering strictly to driving regulations and company procedures. This role requires a professional attitude, excellent driving skills, and a strong commitment to timely deliveries and customer satisfaction. You will be operating state-of-the-art vehicles, ensuring all loads are securely transported and documentation is accurately completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including articulated lorries, for the transportation of goods.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Ensure all loads are securely and safely loaded and unloaded, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and digital logs accurately, including delivery notes and tachograph records.
- Adhere to all road transport regulations, including driver hours and vehicle weights.
- Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
- Communicate effectively with depot staff, customers, and other drivers.
- Represent Eddie Stobart Logistics in a professional manner at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category CE) driving licence.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Proven experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver.
- Excellent understanding of driver hours and working time directives.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading if required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., curtainsiders, box trailers).
- Familiarity with specific delivery routes in the North West England region.
- Forklift licence (advantageous, but not essential).
- A clean driving record.
