Job Description

We are seeking motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join our Heavy Equipment Operator Apprenticeship Program in Kailua-Kona. This full-time apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and professional training in operating a variety of heavy construction equipment. Under the guidance of experienced operators and supervisors, you will learn the essential skills needed for a successful career in heavy civil construction. This program combines practical field experience with structured learning, preparing you for certification and a fulfilling career.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn and master the safe and efficient operation of various heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders, under direct supervision.
• Assist skilled operators with pre-operation checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning of equipment.
• Understand and adhere to all safety protocols, site regulations, and company policies.
• Perform manual labor tasks as required to support equipment operations and site activities.
• Participate actively in all apprenticeship training modules and classroom instruction.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and other site personnel.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and professional development.
• Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
