Job Description

AECOM is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies. The Health and Safety Advisor will provide expert guidance to project teams, conduct risk assessments, and facilitate training sessions to promote a strong safety culture across various projects. This position involves on-site presence at project locations within the Los Angeles area. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on all aspects of health and safety.
  • Deliver engaging and effective health and safety training programs to all levels of personnel.
  • Prepare and submit detailed safety reports, analyses, and documentation as required by regulations and company policy.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site personnel to integrate safety best practices into project planning and execution.
  • Stay up-to-date with current health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, engagement, and leadership.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in occupational health and safety roles, preferably in construction, engineering, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant federal, state, and local safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective control measures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites within the Los Angeles area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance and sustainability practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., English/Spanish) is a plus.
