Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Government Counsel to join our dynamic legal team in our Nashville office. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advising clients on complex legal matters involving government regulations, contracts, and compliance. This position requires a deep understanding of administrative law, procurement processes, and legislative affairs. The Government Counsel will represent clients before various governmental agencies, providing strategic guidance and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients on matters involving government contracts, regulatory compliance, and administrative law.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements and legal documents related to government dealings.
- Represent clients in administrative proceedings, hearings, and appeals before federal, state, and local agencies.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting clients' interests.
- Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure client adherence to government regulations.
- Conduct thorough legal research and prepare memoranda, opinions, and other legal documents.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve client objectives.
- Advise on ethics and conflict of interest issues in government interactions.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Tennessee.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing government law, administrative law, or public policy.
- Demonstrated experience with government contracts, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly for a governmental agency or within a government relations department.
- Demonstrated success in litigating or negotiating complex government-related disputes.
- Familiarity with specific federal agencies or state regulatory bodies relevant to Tennessee.
- LL.M. in Government Law or a related field.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and a strong book of business.
