Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Government Contract Specialist to join our dynamic team in Long Beach, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of government contract lifecycles, ensuring compliance with federal acquisition regulations, and supporting business development initiatives by providing expert advice on contractual matters. This role requires an in-depth understanding of government contracting principles, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments. You will play a critical role in securing and executing contracts that are vital to our mission and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of government contracts, including proposal preparation, negotiation, administration, and closeout.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other applicable government regulations and company policies.
- Review, analyze, and interpret solicitation documents (RFPs, RFQs) to identify contractual requirements and risks.
- Develop and implement contract negotiation strategies, leading negotiations with government contracting officers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for contractual matters with government clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide expert guidance and training to program teams on contractual terms, conditions, and compliance issues.
- Monitor contract performance, identify potential issues, and facilitate timely resolution of contractual disputes.
- Support internal and external audits related to contract compliance.
- Maintain accurate and complete contract records in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in government contracting or contract management.
- In-depth knowledge of FAR and DFARS.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation and administration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD).
- Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with various contract types (e.g., FFP, Cost-Plus, T&M).
- Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Familiarity with contract management software and systems.
