Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Governance Specialist to join our team in Manchester, United Kingdom. This critical role is responsible for ensuring that our operations comply with internal policies, external regulations, and best practices across various business functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance within the financial services sector. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and assess adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular reviews of operational processes to identify control weaknesses and propose remediation actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on governance effectiveness, compliance status, and risk exposures for senior management and relevant committees.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to business units on governance-related matters and regulatory changes.
  • Coordinate with internal audit, compliance, and risk management teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to governance.
  • Support the ongoing training and awareness initiatives for employees regarding governance principles.
  • Manage and track actions arising from audit findings, regulatory reviews, and internal assessments.
  • Facilitate the smooth execution of governance committee meetings, including agenda preparation, minute taking, and follow-up on action items.
  • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory landscapes and industry trends that impact corporate governance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a governance, risk, compliance, or internal audit role, preferably within financial services.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of corporate governance principles, regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA, PRA), and risk management methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and policies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk & Compliance, CISSP, CISA, CRMA).
  • Experience with GRC software solutions.
  • Master's degree or equivalent advanced qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a global organisation with international regulatory exposure.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
